Replication – Lab Preparation

For the next objective we will need to setup a lab for Replication since i am using VMware workstation on my desktop and i only have limited resources i needed to find a workaround to make it work (So much fun :-))

So i put my thinking hat on and i came out with the following solution:

  1. Create a new lab (at least we getting more hands on)
  2. Configure two Datacenters

Datacenter one configuration:

  1. Name: oceanside_dataceter
  2. ESXi hosts: Single esxi name esxi0 with basic installation (no fancy storage or networking connections)
  3. vCenter server : Single vCenter appliance running on VMware workstation
  4. vRA : single vRA installed on esxi0 host
  5. VM’s:single linux vm installed on esxi0 host

Datacenter two configuration:

  1. Name: MSPdatacenter
  2. ESXi hosts: Single esxi name MSPesxi0 with basic installation (no fancy storage or networking connections)
  3. vCenter Server: Single vCenter appliance installed on MSPesxi0 host
  4. vRA : single vRA installed on MSPesxi0 host
  5. VM’s: no additional vm’s installed

if you have 32G of memory you will see that we almost use the entire memory for this lab.(while all VM’s are up)

Note: Dont forget to update the DNS server with the new configuration

Now lets continue with the replication post

Thanks for reading
