In this post we will continue covering the objective from the blueprint and now its time for Create and Manage a Multi-site Content Library
The following are objectives from the blueprint:
- Add/remove Content Libraries
- Configure Content Library authentication
- Configure Content Library to work across sites
- Compare the functionality of Automatic sync and On-Demand sync
- Determine which privileges are required to globally manage a content catalog
- Set/configure Content Library roles
Add/remove Content Libraries / Configure Content Library authentication:
From Home screen click on Content Libraries and then click on the add icon.
Provide a Name and description and choose the vCenter server
for local content library make sure to check the “local” radio button , also if you like to enable authentication you will Have to enable “publish content library externally” check box. Check the box for enable authentication and provide the password.
Choose your storage location and finish.
Configure Content Library to work across sites and Compare the functionality of Automatic sync and On-Demand sync:
Now that we have content library on Socal vCenter (my main vCenter) i can copy the content library link and subscribe to it from my MSP cluster , click the content library >> edit setting and copy the link.
on the MSP cluster create new content library and insted of using local library lets subscribe to the library.
Now you can configure automatic sync on the MSP cluster which will sync the content every 4 hours or you can manually initiate a sync . i didn’t find away to configure the auto sync interval but i find this link (https://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-60/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.vcenterhost.doc%2FGUID-1A5A5387-0E5C-4158-9836-2544990EED00.html)
Determine which privileges are required to globally manage a content catalog and Set/configure Content Library roles:
The privileges required to globally manage the content library catalog are out side of the vCenter scope, you will have to create new role to managed content library
